Probably no other species of Callosciurus is as geographically variable in colour patterns of the fur, not solely amongst peninsular and insular landmasses but also within giant islands, especially so among populations on Borneo (Corbet and Hill, 1992; Musser’s research of specimens representing Indomalayan species).
